Description:                   Amplification of kinematics, including kinetics of human movement; introduction to biomechanics instrumentation.
Prerequisites: KNR 282; PHY 108 AND MAT 108 recommended
Objectives: On course completion, students will be able to:
  1. Solve problems in the kinematics and kinetics of linear and angular motion using the appropriate equations.
  2. Demonstrate an understanding of the information to be obtained from the collection and processing of video, force platform, and electromyographical instrumentation.
  3. Identify biomechanical concepts and principles relevant to solving problem situations in teaching, coaching, injury prevention and rehabilitation.

Course Content: The force/motion/injury relationship
  • Review and amplification of linear and angular kinematics
  • Review and amplification of linear kinetics
  • Introduction to angular kinetics
  • Introduction to the biomechanics of injury
  • Introduction to Movement Analysis (video, force platform)
Evaluation: Graduate students:
