Goals and ObjectivesGoals and Objectives / Sequence of Courses 1. Students will apply dietetic principles to practice to prepare them for membership in The American Dietetic Association and to successfully complete the Registration Examination. 1.1 Students will comply with the admission and retention guidelines of the University and the dietetic internship program. 1.2 Students will successfully meet the competencies outlined in the curriculum for the supervised practice experience. 1.3 Students will have opportunities to participate in supervised practice experiences in other areas of dietetics practice beyond the required curriculum. 2. Students will meet or exceed performance requirements for entry level dietitians. 2.1 Students will successfully complete the supervised practice experiences as specified in the plan of study. 2.2 Students will be given the opportunity to strengthen their performance in selected areas of supervised practice if competencies are not achieved within the typical rotation period. 2.3 Students will be provided the opportunity to participate in complementary support experiences to help achieve the performance requirements outlined in the plan of study. 3. Students will acquire a commitment to the support of professional organizations. 3.1 Students will have the opportunity to become affiliate members of local, state, and national professional organizations including The American Dietetic Association. 3.2 Students will have opportunities to network with professionals in a variety of disciplines. 3.3 Students will be encouraged to attend professional meetings which enhance their professional development. 4. Students will fulfill the Dietetic Internship completion requirements. 4.1 Students will earn an American Dietetic Association Verification Statement and a Master's Degree in Family and Consumer Sciences at the completion of the program. 4.2 Students will be required to complete the program requirements with a B average or better. 4.3 Students will complete the internship component of the degree program within two years. The dietetic internship has been designed for the preparation of professionals in a variety of positions in clinical dietetics, community nutrition, and food service management. Graduates who meet the Core and General Emphasis Competencies of the American Dietetic Association as delineated in the dietetic internship program are eligible to take the Registration Examination.
