Therapeutic Recreation Internship Information
Dear Potential Therapeutic Recreation Internship Agency Supervisor: Thank you for your interest in becoming an internship site for the therapeutic recreation students at Illinois State University. We are always pleased to have a variety of agencies available for students to complete their senior internships. The senior internship is very important for the student's learning experience, and for the certification process through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC). The therapeutic recreation faculty at Illinois State established a process to review potential internship sites based on NCTRC, NTRS, and ATRA Internship Guidelines. In order to begin the process of becoming an internship site, the following must be forwarded to the university:
It normally takes between two to four weeks to review an agency as a possible internship site. The process will take longer if insufficient documentation is sent. Please make sure your application is complete. In 2009, the therapeutic recreation faculty implemented
a policy to update approved agencies.
