Dr. Paul Walker (Illinois State University) is the program coordinator, in addition to serving as the lead investigator for the composting and separation studies.
Dr. Ken Smiciklas (Illinois State University) is the lead investigator for the agronomic studies evaluating the effects of inorganic fertilizer, compost, processed manure and unprocessed manure application on grain production parameters.
Dr. Robert Rhykerd (Illinois State University) is the lead investigator for the agronomic studies evaluating the effect of inorganic fertilizer, compost, processed manure and unprocessed manure application on soil characteristics.
Dr. Walton Kelley (Illinois State Water Survey) is the lead scientist evaluating potential for nutrient transfer from inorganic fertilizer, and processed and unprocessed manure application on soil and groundwater.
Mr. Sam Panno and Dr. Keith Hackley (Illinois State Geological Survey) are geochemists with expertise in environmentally important stable isotopes.
Dr. Hue-Hwa Hwang (Illinois State Geological Survey) oversees the isotopic analyses.
Dr. Tim Kelly (North Carolina Eastern University) and Dr. Beverly Barham (Illinois State University) provide microbiological expertise in evaluating potential for pathogen transfer from unprocessed wastes through processing and application to soil groundwater and grain production.
Mr. Duane Friend (Natural Resources Management Educator with University of Illinois Extension) serves as an active investigator and assists in coordination of outreach initiatives.
Dr. Eberhard Morganroth (University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign) serves as the lead scientist regarding environmental microbiology.
Dr. David Williams (University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign) provides horticulture expertise regarding composting.
