| Purpose: | The course provides you with an understanding of how principles of biomechanics apply in the workplace. |
| Pre-requisites: | KNR 282, Biomechanics of Human Movement, or instructor consent |
![]()
| Objectives: | At the end of the course, you will be able to: |
| 1. Describe the components of the simple-joint model of the human body. | |
| 2. Describe the biomechanical characteristics of connective tissue, muscle and joints. | |
| 3. Explain the mechanical basis of acute and repetitive motion trauma to connective tissue, muscle, joints and the nervous system. | |
| 4. Develop a link-segment model of limbs and the human body based on subject appropriate anthropometric data | |
| 5. Apply an inverse-dynamic analysis to calculate joint moments of force and joint reaction forces of a supported and unsupported body segment in a static situation. | |
| 6. Biomechanically evaluate the appropriateness of the workplace-worker interaction with respect to worker capacity to meet demands. | |
| 7. Use biomechanical evaluations to recommend changes to the worker-workplace interface to minimize the risk of musculoskeletal repetitive trauma and to enhance worker productivity. |
